"All are Welcome!" It is well known that Quakers are welcoming. It is also well known that Quakers live their testimonies. In particular, Quakers support peace and social justice and take action as we feel is appropriate.
Currently many religious organizations are supporting immigration rights. Philadelphia Yearly Meeting is a plaintiff in a lawsuit against the US Department of Homeland Security.
Stay up to date about it here: https://www.pym.org/dhs-lawsuit/
Did you know all people in the United States, regardless of immigration status, have certain rights and protections under the U.S. Constitution? The Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) provides red cards that give examples of how people can exercise these rights. However, they do not provide individualized legal advice. Community members are encouraged to check in with a trusted legal service provider for questions about their situation.
ILRC red cards are available to self print in multiple languages. If you would like professionally printed red cards, visit Barnegat Friends Meeting any time for free copies with our compliments.

Yes, we still enjoy eating and chatting at the open houses that we host
the fourth Sunday of each month. You are welcome to join us at 11 am.
On Sunday, May 31, 2 pm, Emily Provance (“Quaker Emily”) will visit and will present
on communities and violence in an increasingly fractured society.
You are invited to meet Emily Provance at Barnegat Friends Meeting. If you cannot come
to Barnegat, please participate via Zoom. Either way, we ask you to register here:
https://barnegatquakers.tiny.us/QuakerEmily.
Currently Emily Provance is in Northern Ireland, where she is looking at the history of the Troubles and how that is parallel (and not) to current conditions in the United States. Emily brought to Barnegat Meeting’s attention a recent FIRE survey that found 34% of college students now say it is sometimes acceptable to respond to objectionable speech with violence. That's a scary trend regardless of where we stand politically. Her Barnegat presentation will pull from Quaker experience and Quaker theology to talk about how we respond to an increasingly fractured society.
You may be familiar with Emily Provance’s extensive work as a traveling Quaker minister. She has led numerous workshops and has given presentations for organizations worldwide. Her recent publications include the Pendle Hill pamphlet, “Spiritual Gifts, the Beloved Community, and Covenant” and the book, “Before the Resurrection, Transitions and Endings in Quaker Meetings and Churches”. In 2025 she was Britain Yearly Meeting’s invited speaker at the Swarthmore Lecture organized by Woodbrooke. Her topic was “A Testimony of Community”. You can learn more at Emily’s blog, “Turning, Turning, Holy Experiments Among Friends”.

Thank you, Dan Lieter, for your April 19 presentation,
It’s not just the Honey – A deeper look into the products honeybees give us.
The presentation was informative, and Dan passed around a variety of samples that included
beeswax, propolis, and pollen. At the Meeting's request, he brought some of his delicious honey to sell.
Couldn't be there? You can taste Dan's honey; the Meeting has a jar on hand for coffee and tea.

Wow! We are so impressed by the work being done to address substance abuse disorder by Sea Change Recovery Community Organization. President Elizabeth Burke Beaty gave an overview of addiction characteristics, the support model employed by Sea Change facilitators and volunteers, and the very extensive resources the organization offers.
